rambles & rants
this is my attempt at "giving back to the internet,"
which i was coerced into doing by certain individuals.
Study Shows Owning A Cat Reduces Risk of Heart Attack
I was thrilled by this study making headlines yesterday. I can’t wait to get my very own heart attack risk reducer!
10-day forecast for Fes
looks like we’ll be there for some unseasonably warm weather!

getting myself excited for my trip to Fez which begins tomorrow. i still feel slightly ill-prepared as deciding to go was an uncharacteristically whimsical decision for me.

eric’s turned me into a true geek. i’m currently reading macrumors’ live blogging of the macworld expo — exciting stuff. eric’s prediction was right on!

we’re deciding whether or not to stay in these nice-looking mini-hotel rooms that are conveniently located in london’s gatwick airport, where we’re scheduled to have a ten-hour layover next tuesday night.
complete with flat-screen tvs, showers, wi-fi, and fancy sheets, these mini-rooms seem to be a couple steps up from japan’s capsule hotels.
today sarah and i went ice skating in bryant park. surprisingly, it was lots of fun, and i hope to make it an annual activity.
biking & exercise
in high school, i was on the swim team, which entailed working out six days a week, with both morning and afternoon workouts on four of those days. these days, however, it’s difficult for me to even muster up the energy to work out for a mere thirty minutes once or twice a week. i’m determined to change that in 2008, though, and i thought today would be a great opportunity to add extra activity in my life. my brilliant plan consisted of me riding my oh-so-cool collapsible bike to the gym, where i was to continue my half-marathon training (which i started all of two weeks ago).
well, riding my bike the forty-seven blocks from my house to the gym turned out to be really hard, so hard in fact that by the time i arrived at the gym, i was way too tired to even attempt running. and riding my bike home at that point was incredibly daunting, so i thought i would take advantage of my bike’s handy collapsible features and carry it home on the subway. that task also proved to be rather challenging, however, and i had to call my boyfriend a grand total of five times to help me figure out how to properly collapse my bike. even collapsed, my bike was difficult to carry around on the subway, so by the time i got home (a total of three and a half hours after i departed on this journey), i was ready for a nap.
(for more adventures with my bike, see: Collapsible bike proves acceptable (frozen desserts remain excellent))
eric’s parents didn’t think we were capable of cooking, so we made pizza dough from scratch. it was surprisingly delicious.
(one day i’ll learn to write about something other than food.)
the appetizer course at the amazing gaam. this course was followed by an even bigger tray full of more (vegetarian) indian delicacies and the offer of seconds of any of the dishes!
for a truly unique new york dining experience, i highly recommend gaam. not only do you get an enormous amount of food (all you can eat!), you don’t even have to deal with the often difficult decision about what to order — you arrive, and they serve you all of the goodies, including dessert, that they’ve prepared that day.
the perfect food to begin a new year: magnolia’s banana pudding — yum!
